An official Bradford City calendar has been withdrawn from sale after it mistakenly featured Hull City striker Dele Adebola on the front cover.

The calendar, designed by Just Sport Pro Club – who hold the licence to run all Nike shops including the club’s own at Valley Parade – featured a photo of Guy Branston in a challenge with the former loanee forward Adebola.

When the calendar was printed, however, defender Branston had been cropped out of the image leaving only ex-player Adebola playing in a Hull strip.

The error was brought to light during Saturday’s match against Rochdale after a number of fans complained, and the club has now ordered the item to be removed from the shop shelves.

City director of operations David Baldwin told Telegraph & Argus: "We were just asked for some imagery by the printers which we sent over. We didn’t get to see it afterwards because it wasn’t our calendar.

"It wasn’t sent back to retail for proofing so the calendar went straight on sale with that wrong cover. But we’ve had it taken off sale now and they are sorting it.

"We haven’t incurred any costs in production because it was nothing to do with us really. It was down to the shop licensee - we didn’t make any money from sales.

"But obviously as soon as we realised the error, we insisted that it was removed.”

Baldwin also expressed his thanks to the supporters who raised the issue, and suggested they might retain the original as a keepsake.

He quipped: "I’d like to thank the fans who brought it to my attention in a constructive manner.

"For those who had already bought the calendar, I suppose they have a collector's item now!"
