Bayern Munich have confirmed that Bastian Schweinsteiger picked up a knee injury during their Bundesliga win over Stuttgart on Saturday - but say he could yet feature in the DFB-Pokal final.
The Germany international was withdrawn against his side's southern rivals after just 37 minutes, prompting fears he could miss next weekend's cup clash with Dortmund in Berlin - and even the World Cup.
However, the Bavarians have now confirmed that the midfielder has not suffered any serious injury and could return at the Olympiastadion on Saturday.
The 29-year-old underwent tests in the wake of the match with club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt and it was revealed that he only sustained slight irritation to the left kneecap.
He will begin training on his own and the club's medical staff will decide on a day-to-day basis how much they can up his workload before making a final decision on his participation in Saturday's showdown with BVB.
