The Partenopei centre-back has yet to register a cap for the Azzurri and has only been called-up once, for a friendly against South Africa in 2007.
The 31-year-old, however, remains unperturbed by not being able to represent his country and claims he is not interested in the fortunes of Cesare Prandelli’s side.
“There is no sense of regret that I keep being excluded,” Cannavaro told Radio Marte.
“To be honest, I don’t even watch the Italian national side anymore. I haven’t since my brother Fabio stopped playing for them.”
The former Parma man has been a mainstay of the Neapolitans’ backline since re-signing for the club in 2006 but despite putting in good performances for the Serie A side, he has been blanked by Prandelli.
The 55-year-old's side have a friendly against France on Wednesday.
