Stephan El Shaarawy has described his maiden season at AC Milan as a success after admitting that he did not expect to see much playing time in the 2011-12 campaign.
The 19-year-old attacker joined the Rossoneri from Genoa in the summer of 2011 and quickly became a first-team regular under Massimiliano Allegri, and he is now looking to build in the future.
"It was a great season. I didn’t expect to play this much: 28 matches and four goals. I could perhaps have done a bit more, but there’s still time to do so in the next few years," El Shaarawy stated to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Italy Under-21 forward then looked back at his San Siro bow for the Rossoneri.
"My debut for Milan was fantastic. It was such an amazing feeling, also because I was right under the Curva Sud.
"It was an experience that I’ll never forget. It was like I was lost. I felt like I was in seventh heaven."
El Shaarawy has a contract with Milan until June 2016.
