The France coach has insisted the pair can play together in a 4-4-2 formation and is adamant his side is not one of the worst in the history of French football
Les Bleus were handed a tough group in qualification for the 2014 World Cup featuring Spain and, despite a strong early showing, they now trail la Roja by three points with two games to go having drawn 0-0 at Georgia on Friday.
Benzema, who has not scored on the international stage for 20 hours and counting, has received a lot of criticism but the former Marseille boss insists all of his team must share the blame ahead of Tuesday's clash with Belarus.
"Benzema is not the problem," Deschamps told reporters. "I have 11 problems, 11 choices to make every time we play.
"Benzema may be in the area and it depends on who he has around him as to whether he scores.
"I encourage them to talk. Benzema complained about a lack of communication on the pitch. I'm not worried but if it is there is that we need to improve difficulties.
"Benzema and Giroud can work but the two do not play in a 4-4-2 formation for their clubs so it will take time."
Deschamps refused to condemn his side as one of the worst Bleus sides ever and, though he says is is yet to find a "miracle solution" to France's five-game goalless streak, he remains hopeful that he can make changes to turn their form around.
He continued: "I could never say this is one of the worst teams in French history. I do not compare generations.
"Is it a problem of inefficiency or poor talent? Who can evaluate? Players score for their clubs when selected but not for us, though. We have players who lack experience
"I will make choices for the good of the team, not choices sanction. I still have some solutions but do not have a miracle solution.
"Spain had fewer opportunities than we did here in Georgia in May but they won 1-0 in the 86th minute."
"I have two eyes to see. I am in the analysis. I have not decided who will play in Belarus but I will make choices for the good of the team.
"We are lacking in efficiency. We need to improve this aspect."
