New France coach Laurent Blanc has named his 23-man squad for the friendly with Norway in Oslo, sticking to his promise to name none of the World Cup squad taken to South Africa by Raymond Domenech.
Blanc walked into the French job after the tournament vowing not to include any of the 23 players who went on strike during a training session before the team's final game against South Africa, which they subsequently lost, leading to their elimination in the group stages of the tournament.
The squad had gone on strike in protest at Domenech's decision to send strike Nicolas Anelka home, after the pair had a furious bust up at the French camp.
The exodus of players has led to a recall for Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri, who was one of the surprise exclusions from the original World Cup squad.
Wigan Athletic winger Charles N'Zogbia receives his first international call up — the former Newcastle player had been mooted as a possibility for England but his inclusion in Blanc's first French squad appears to have dashed any such hopes.
The controversial Wigan man has been strongly linked with a move away from the club, he recently commented that he wanted to leave the DW stadium in order to fulfil ambitions of playing for one of the bigger clubs in Europe.
Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is another big player to return to the squad after missing out on a World Cup place, following a shaky first season at the Spanish side and dispute his current legal troubles.
The squad contains 15 uncapped players, including Stoke and Liverpool target Loic Remy and Roma's Jeremy Menez.
The game is the final preparation before Blanc's team begin their road to recovery with the European Championship qualifying process in September.
