Bet of the Day: Villarreal to make Bray pay in Irish friendly
La Liga outfit are hot favourites in tonight's clash...
By Patrick Reilly
La Liga glamour comes to the Emerald Isle tonight for the unlikely match up between Bray Wanderers and Villarreal.
Spanish side Villarreal are following in the tracks of Real Madrid who jetted over to Ireland twelve months ago and are even staying in the same luxury hotel. It seems to be working as they recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Irish first division outfit Athlone Town over the weekend.
Bray Wanderers play one division higher than Athlone in the Irish top flight but are enduring the season from hell. The Seagulls are rock bottom having won just once all season from 21 games played and that was away from home against one of the league's better sides (Dundalk). No doubt they will be fired up for the match with the Yellow Submarine but there is a massive 'seagulf' in class — if you pardon the pun.
Villarreal have brought a strong squad to Ireland including Giuseppe Rossi, who scored against Athlone, along with South American stars Nilmar and Diego Godin. Real Madrid may have only been able to record a 1-0 win over Shamrock Rovers a year ago and you'd have to suspect that Villarreal can better that and more tonight in front of a packed crowd in the Carlisle Grounds.

Friday's Tip
We figured there would be over 2.5 goals in the Ajax - Chelsea friendly in Amsterdam due to the Blues' goalkeeping problems. It paid off handsomely as the Dutch ran out 3-1 winners courtesy of some howlers between the sticks.
