Bet of the Day: Henrik Larsson's former side to deliver in Sweden
Helsingborg are away to Hacken, with odds well worth a look
By Patrick Reilly
Regular readers will know that the Swedish leagues have been a firm friend of Bet of the Day from the outset. None more so than the elite level Allsvenskan where our attention turns for tonight's clash between strugglers Hacken and table-toppers Helsingborg.
Hacken narrowly missed out on European football last season and the hangover has carried over into the new term. The Gothenburg side reside just above reigning champions AIK in a dangerously low 13th spot in the 16-team division, with a W4 D4 L6 record, and have scored just once in their last five home games. Not good form to be in when the league leaders are pulling into town.
Helsingborg have not looked back since Henrik Larsson hung up his boots last season after a disappointing campaign where they finished 8th. The Skane outfit are romping away with the Allsvenskan with a W11 D2 L1 record, and will go eight points clear at the top if they win tonight.
In the recent head-to-head between the sides, Helsingborg ran out 2-1 winners in the Swedish Cup. Five of Helsingborg's seven away games have been under 2.5 goals, and we know Hacken can't score for meatballs at home so the over/under market needs inspecting.
Considering the difference in form between the sides Helsinborg are a very inviting 2.26 to win tonight. Hacken should scrap as they need something to sneak out of the relegation zone. Unlikely to be many goals in it.
* Back Helsingborg at 2.26 to win (small stake)
* Under 2.5 goals at 1.90 looks the runner
Match Odds: Hacken 2.95, Draw 3.15, Helsingborg 2.26
Yesterday's Tip
Goals looked likely in the France-Austria match at the European U-19 Championships. We backed Les Bleus to win and over 2.5 goals and they smacked the Austrians 5-0. Merci.
