Tuesday night's match at the Estadio Jose Alvalade sees two young, exciting sides meet in a clash which could go a long way to deciding who progresses from Group F.
Victory for Dortmund in the Portuguese capital would put them on seven points, four ahead of Sporting with two of their three remaining fixtures at home, yet a win for Jorge Jesus' men would see them overtake the Germans in the group.
Both teams have put in some impressive performances in Europe so far despite failing to dazzle domestically, with Sporting hugely impressive against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, and Dortmund wonderful in Warsaw where they thrashed Legia 6-0.
This season Sporting have played 10 matches across all competitions and managed to score in each of those games, while Dortmund have found the back of the net in eight of their last 10 away games in the Champions League. Both teams to score is offered at 8/13 (1.61) which is probably slightly too small a price for a stand-alone bet for most punters, although it is worthy of consideration for a inclusion in a multiple bet.
Over 2.5 goals is priced at a slightly more appealing 7/10 (1.70) and this could be a better option, while neither side in particularly impressive form defensively. Dortmund have conceded in each of their last five games and kept only two clean sheets in nine games across the Bundesliga and Champions League this season.
In the Portuguese Primeira Liga meanwhile, Sporting have conceded three goals in games against Rio Ave and Vitora Guimaraes, while lowly Estoril managed to score twice at the Estadio Jose Alvalade. With both teams looking good going forward but inspiring little confidence at the back, a high scoring game looks likely in Lisbon.
