thumbnail Hello,

Having lost their manager in shocking circumstances just before the new season, the Eagles are expected to turn to the man they were strongly linked with back in November

Having performed so admirably in keeping Crystal Palace in the Premier League last season, Tony Pulis’ departure just two days before the big kick-off has come as a bolt from the blue.

Next Crystal Palace Manager

Odds from William Hill
Malky Mackay 8/11
Neil Lennon 6/1
Tim Sherwood 8/1
David Moyes 8/1
Chris Hughton 16/1
Glenn Hoddle 16/1
Neil Warnock 20/1
Gianfranco Zola 20/1
While shocking, the news has immediately seen Malky Mackay named as favourite to replace the former Stoke City manager, having been unemployed since leaving Cardiff City in similarly controversial circumstances last December.

The Scotsman was heavily linked with the job prior to Pulis’ appointment back in  November and is on offer at 8/11 (1.73) with William Hill to return to Premier League management with the Eagles.

Those rather slim odds are even more understandable considering the presence at the club of his former confidant Iain Moody, whose sacking by Cardiff City formed a key reason to Mackay’s departure from the Welsh capital.

Also out of work after leaving Celtic this summer, Neil Lennon is the next in line at 6/1 (7.00) to make the long-awaited move down south following an all-conquering record in Scottish football, apparently now keen to test himself in English football.

Meanwhile, Tim Sherwood is on offer at 8/1 (8.00) to make the move across London by taking the reins at Selhurst Park, having enjoyed a relatively successful spell in charge of Tottenham last campaign,.

Despite a less than impressive stint in charge of Manchester United, David Moyes would surely represent something of a coup for the Palace board should they convince him to take over, with their chances of making that happen currently rated at 8/1 (9.00).

Less glamorous would be the appointment of Neil Warnock 16/1 (15.00), who knows the club well after previously spending three seasons at the helm during less prosperous times while former England manager Glenn Hoddle is also 16/1 (17.00) after returning to coaching with QPR just days ago.

Finally, Chris Hughton and Gianfranco Zola are both priced at 20/1 (21.00) to end their time in the managerial wilderness by replacing Pulis.
