Betting Special: Fabregas good value to be Chelsea's top scorer

Phil Kitromilides takes a look at the market for the Blues' top Premier League goalscorer and believes that there could be value in backing new signing Cesc Fabregas at 11/1
That Chelsea remain favorites with the bookmakers to win this season's Premier League title speaks more of the strength in depth that the Blues possess in their squad than their firepower up front.

New man Diego Costa, signed from Atletico Madrid, will bear a lot of responsibility for getting goals for Jose Mourinho's side and the Spanish international is the 10/11 (1.91) favorite with bet365 to be Chelsea's top Premier League scorer.

Top Chelsea Premier League Goalscorer 2014/15

Odds from bet365
Diego Costa 10/11
Edin Hazard 3/1
Andre Schurrle 10/1
Didier Drogba 10/1
Cesc Fabregas 11/1
Fernando Torres 12/1
Odds-on quotes make theoretical sense given the lack of competition he will have for a starting berth as Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres are unlikely to challenge him in the starting line-up on a regular basis. Romelu Lukaku has moved on too, leaving the new arrival as Chelsea's undoubted first choice striker.

Costa though, may take some time to adapt to a new country and a new league. His physical prowess will no doubt suit the Premier League, though the pace of the game in England might require some adjustment from the 25-year-old.

Next in the betting comes Edin Hazard at 3/1 (4.00) with the Belgian hoping to continue his development at Stamford Bridge in what will be his third season in west London. In the previous campaign he netted 14 times in the league and his contributions will once again be vital.

Hazard though was somewhat disappointing in the World Cup, unlike his Blues team mate Andre Schurrle who had a decisive impact for Germany and is offered at 10/1 (11.00) to be Chelsea's top scorer the same price as Didier Drogba.

For a value bet however, the price of 11/1 (12.00) for Cesc Fabregas to be Chelsea's top scorer might be worth considering.

In a disappointing campaign for Barcelona last season he still mananged 13 goals, and Chelsea's system should suit him more than the blaugrana's.

In his penultimate season at Arsenal he scored 15 Premier League goals showing he is more than capable of delivering in the English top flight.

In a market devoid of any standout selections and with question marks over whether Diego Costa will take some time to adjust to his new surroundings this looks to be a bet that could offer some serious value, especially if Fabregas gets off to a scoring start.
