Spurs looked good on their visit to America, with two wins picked up plus one draw. With eight goals scored in three matches, Pochettino has certainly showed the fans the attacking intent that he plans to bring to the club.
After being held by Seattle Sounders in a 3-3 thriller, Spurs then went onto beat Toronto and Chicago Fire. Most recently, Tottenham dispatched of Celtic 6-1, with Emmanuel Adebayor, Roberto Soldado and Christian Eriksen all netting in a comprehensive victory against the Scottish champions. William Hill price them at 10/11 (1.91) to pick up another win in this home clash.
Schalke kicked off their pre-season netting 19 goals in three matches, including an 11-1 win. Since those opening three fixtures, the German outfit have faced Stoke City, West Ham United and Newcastle United. After beating Stoke 2-1, Jens Keller’s men lost to West Ham on penalties and were on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline against the Magpies. William Hill price them at 3/1 (4.00) to get back to winning ways against English opposition here, with the same firm pricing the draw at 12/5 (3.40).
It’s not worth reading too much into Spurs’ result against Celtic, as the Scottish side played a weakened team ahead of their Champions League qualifier. However, Spurs do look in good form and with Newcastle dominating Schalke in their friendly, it could be another defeat to an English side for the Germans who still have two weeks of preperation time before starting their Bundesliga campaign.
Back Spurs to win at 10/11 (1.91) and for Pochettino to kick off his White Hart Lane debut in style.
