Betting Special: Can Rodriguez overshadow Neymar in the race for the Golden Boot?

Having each played an instrumental role in firing their countries to the quarter-finals, Al Hain-Cole examines who will come out on top when Brazil take on Colombia

Although the hosts are bet365’s 17/20 (1.85) favourites to come out on top, Los Cafeteros have won all four of their matches in Brazil and are available at 15/4 (4.75) to make it five, with the draw priced at 27/10 (3.70).

That 100 per cent record owes a lot to Rodriguez, whose five goals in four matches make him the tournament’s current top scorer, with Neymar trailing one behind on four.

Despite his prolific form, the Monaco man is on offer at a generous 11/4 (3.75) to find the net, and 8/1 (9.00) to open the scoring for the third time in four games.

Meanwhile, the golden boy of the Selecao is available at a slimmer 6/5 (2.20) to merely add to his 35 goals in 53 internationals, and 7/2 (4.50) to strike first.

However, with Jose Pekerman’s side having conceded just twice in four games so far, odds of 11/2 (6.50) may be worth considering on them keeping Luis Felipe Scolari’s men quiet and allowing their star man to outscore his opposite number on Friday.

Alternatively, the Barcelona forward can be backed at 11/8 (2.38) to enjoy more luck in front of goal, while they are ranked at 10/11 (1.91) to cancel each other out.

Realistically, Neymar’s potency in the famous yellow jersey means the prospect of him scoring at least twice for the 10th time at this level is not to be ruled out at 11/2 (6.50), while you can back him at 25/1 (26.00) to score a third international hat-trick.

Conversely, the Uruguay match was the first time that Rodriguez had struck more than once for his country, although he is on offer at 20/1 (21.00) to achieve the same feat once again here, or 100/1 (101.00) to score three.

With a fiercely contested match in prospect, both South American sides will need their main men to turn it on at the Stadio Governador Placido Aderaldo Castelo if they are to progress.

You can back Brazil to come out on top courtesy of a Neymar opening goal at 4/1 (5.00), while Rodriguez is available at 16/1 (17.00) to get the ball rolling in a shock Colombian victory.
