thumbnail Hello,

Al Hain-Cole expects Die Mannschaft to provide more goal-scoring action against Bernard Challades' men having served up an entertaining encounter against Cameroon last time out

Germany will be looking to pick up a first win in three matches when they welcome Armenia to Mainz on Friday in their final friendly before next week’s World Cup.

Joachim Low’s men have been held to successive draws by Poland and Cameroon recently but are clear 1/20 (1.05) favourites with Paddy Power to record a morale-boosting victory this evening.

Having lost 3-1 to Algeria in their previous fixture, the visitors are 20/1 (21.00) underdogs to come out on top against their distinguished opponents at the Coface Arena.

Alternatively, there are odds of 11/1 (12.00) available on the hosts heading off to Brazil in disappointment on the back of a third consecutive draw.

Having qualified for the World Cup in style as the top-scoring European nation with 36 goals in 10 games, nine of which resulted in victories, Die Mannschaft have lost some of their attacking lustre in recent friendlies.

After scoring just three goals in four exhibition matches against Italy, England, Germany and Poland, the home fans will have been heartened to see their side hit the back of the net twice against Cameroon last time out.

Unfortunately, this increased efficiency up front was accompanied by a carelessness at the back that resulted in two goals conceded, bringing back memories of friendlies against Paraguay and the USA last summer that saw them breached three and four times respectively.

Having conceded three goals against both Algeria and the UAE in their last two games, Bernard Challades’ side are surely there for the taking for a team as prolific as Germany, meaning odds of 5/6 (1.83) appear good value on over 3.5 goals being scored.

That bet would have paid out in three of Armenia’s last four matches, and should be more than safe when they visit a team who normally guarantee goals at one end or the other.
