Championship Betting Preview: Burnley's resistance in Reading to open the door for Brighton

As the two clubs fight it out for the final play-off place in Saturday’s two televised games, Al Hain-Cole has put together a double to make matters even more exciting
Fans of Brighton and Reading will be watching anxiously on Saturday as their sides go head-to-head for the final play-off place with games against Nottingham Forest and Burnley, respectively.

Having come back from a goal down at half-time to secure a 3-1 away win over Doncaster Rovers last time out, the Royals need only to match Brighton's result in order to preserve the one-point cushion separating themselves from seventh place.

However, this is easier said then done as they take on a Burnley team who have shown little sign of easing off despite already clinching their own automatic promotion, ending Ipswich's hopes of a play-off push with a 1-0 victory last time out.

That game saw Sean Dyche's runners-up collect a third consecutive clean sheet and the best defence in the division could well ensure that they frustrate a home crowd who have  seen their team score just six goals in the last eight fixtures.

With this in mind, odds of 19/20 (1.95) are well worth backing on the guests threatening to spoil the party at the Madejski Stadium by keeping the scoreline to under 2.5 goals for their ninth successive game and the eighth in nine home games for Nigel Adkins's  team.

A stubborn Clarets resistance may therefore leave Brighton with an opportunity to snatch sixth place as they travel to face a team whose own play-off hopes were finally extinguished with a 4-1 defeat at Bournemouth last time out.

In truth, Forest have been in freefall for some time now, losing nine and winning just two of their last 16 games, and currently find themselves in limbo under caretaker manager Gary Brazil as they await the arrival of Stuart Pearce in July.

With nothing for which to play, the hosts are unlikely to put up much of a resistance against the Seagulls, whose away record ranks among the very best in the Championship.

Having recently recorded an impressive 4-1 away victory over champions Leicester, Oscar Garcia's men are more than capable of coming out on top in a must-win game, with odds of 6/5 (2.20) making for a handsome 33/10 (4.30) when combined with Saturday's other selection.
