Everton come into this match after a solid victory at home to Manchester United, a defeat that proved to be the last straw for David Moyes. Roberto Martinez's men have been hugely impressive this season, keeping themselves right in the battle for the fourth Champions League spot in recent weeks.
Seven wins in their last eight games has seen them come to within one point of Arsenal, who sit in fourth, and a win here would put them - at least temporarily - above the Gunners. Paddy Power price them at 6/4 (2.50) to be victorious.
Southampton have also played some fantastic football this season but have tailed off in the last few weeks. With a charge to the European places once in motion, a few sloppy performances have seen them slip off the pace.
The Saints have lost three, drawn one and won one of their last five, tasting defeat against Cardiff City in their last home game. Paddy Power price them at 7/4 (2.75) to take all three points, with the same firm pricing the draw at 12/5 (3.40).
With neither team struggling to find the net, the both teams to score market would have been tempting in this clash but the 4/7 (1.57) price does not offer value with Paddy Power. The same can be said about over 2.5 goals, which the firm price at 4/6 (1.67).
Instead it is worth looking at the outright market for a bet that seems to offer a much more attractive betting proposition.
Everton, despite a slip-up against an in-form Crystal Palace side, have been sensational in recent weeks. With seven wins from their last eight, and three away wins on the spin, it is certainly worth backing the 6/4 (2.50) price. When you consider that Southampton have been poor recently and may mentally already be on their holidays, it is worth siding with the away team on Saturday lunchtime.
