thumbnail Hello,

Sevilla need goals this evening, and our Spanish expert Phil Kitromilides explains why they are more than capable of getting them

The first leg of this first ever Seville derby in a European competition was an extraordinary event, both on and off the pitch.

The atmosphere in the city throughout the day was one of uncontrollable excitement, while the game itself saw beleaguered Betis pull off a 2-0 win to put them in the driving seat in the tie.

That Sevilla did not score is still difficult to believe given the number of clear-cut chances they had, while Kevin Gameiro's headed miss in the second half has to be seen to be believed.

The Verdiblancos therefore are in a strong position to make it through to the last eight and bet365 price them at 21/10 (3.10) to claim a win this evening. The visitors meanwhile can be backed at 5/4 (2.25) with the draw offered at 12/5 (3.40).

Sevilla know they have to score at least twice to have any hope of progressing and they are well equipped to find the back of the net.

Unai Emery's side are one of the highest scoring outfits in the Primera Division, with only the top three having scored more goals than them this season.

Betis for their part have the second worst defence in the top flight, and despite their miraculous clean sheet in the first leg, have been consistently shipping goals. To this end, backing Sevilla to score two or more goals at 9/10 (1.90) looks to be an excellent option.

This season, Sevilla have scored twice at the Camp Nou and three times at the Bernabeu. While it is a derby, the Benito Villamarin should hold little fear for them, and against a defensively poor Betis side, they should be backed to score over 1.5 goals this evening.
