Dynamo Kiev - Valencia Betting Preview: Why few goals are likely

After three Champions League winners this week, our Spain expert turns his attentions to the Europa League and thinks under 2.5 goals is the best bet
Given the events in Ukraine over the last few days, football seems an utter irrelevance. Yet for Dynamo Kiev and their fans the show must go on, with their Europa League meeting with Valencia moved to the island of Cyprus following concerns over safety in the country's capital.

Dynamo will still nominally be the home team and, given the sizeable Ukrainian community on the island, will no doubt have more supporters in the stadium than the visitors, yet the atmosphere is likely to be somewhat lacking.

William Hill offer Dynamo at 2/1 (3.00) while making Valencia the favourites at 13/10 (2.30).

Due to their winter break it is worth remembering that Dynamo have not played a competitive game since the beginning of December, while Valencia have enjoyed a small resurgence under their new coach Juan Antonio Pizzi, and are now unbeaten in their last five games including that famous win at Barcelona a few weeks ago.

Given the two legged nature of the tie and the unusual circumstances of its staging it is likely that we will see a low-scoring encounter.

William Hill offer odds of 3/4 (1.75) on less than three goals being scored and that looks like as good a selection as any for this game. Valencia have failed to score in five of their last seven away games in all competitions, with five of their last eight games on the road all seeing under three goals scored.

Under three goals to be scored at 3/4 (1.75) for a 2.5pt stake with William Hill
