Celta - Betis Betting Preview: Why a half-time stalemate is on the cards

With both sides struggling to prove themselves in La Liga this season, our tipster, Phil Kitromilides, believes a tight opening 45 minutes looks likely in Galicia on Friday
We may only be just past the halfway point of the season, yet time is already running out for a Betis side that are beginning to look doomed to relegation.

Eight points from safety, without a league victory in four months and on to their third coach of the season, the Primera Division's bottom side need to start winning matches and fast.

Celta for their part have struggled horribly for consistency, winning just three matches all season and are still hovering precariously just above the drop zone. bet365 price a home win on Friday at 21/20 (2.05) while Betis can be backed at 5/2 (3.50).

Yet given just how badly they are struggling for form, neither side inspires particular confidence and, to this end, backing a draw at half-time could be a wise investment.

It is offered at a tempting 5/4 (2.20) and has paid out in three of Celta's last four home matches and in a total of six of the 10 Liga fixtures they have played at the Estadio Balaidos this season.

Furthermore Celta have tended to score more often in the second half, with 14 of their 23 league goals this term coming in the latter 45 minutes.

With neither side prolific in front of goal, a tight opening half could well be on the cards and backing a draw at the break looks like a sensible option.
