thumbnail Hello,

After a 23/10 winner in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday night, our Spanish expert, Phil Kitromilides, explains why the visitors can record a win on Wednesday evening

Things are beginning to seem pretty grim for Real Betis. This side from Seville remain rooted to the bottom of La Liga, now five points from safety and without a league win in 11 matches.

Given their current situation, Wednesday night's cup clash with Athletic Bilbao could be viewed in one of two ways; a distraction that they could do without or a chance to provide the team with a much-needed boost.

The Basques, for their part, boast an enviable cup heritage and there is little chance of a team as proud as theirs taking this tie anything less than extremely seriously. William Hill offer a home win at 21/10 (3.10) while Athletic can be backed at 23/20 (2.15) and the draw is available at 23/10 (3.30).

Despite the hosts' aforementioned history in the cup, the price for an away win is tempting, especially when considering Betis's injury problems. The club confirmed that Paulao, Juan Carlos and Matilla will all be missing for the match, with Juan Carlos Garrido likely to have to call up some youth players to bolster the squad.

That is not what you want when your side are in such a precarious position and bereft of all confidence. Athletic, meanwhile, have a strong squad to chose from and, barring their Basque derby defeat on Sunday, have been in excellent form, winning five of their last eight matches in all competitions.

Athletic Draw No Bet is offered at 6/10 (1.60), which is just too small, so instead be bold and back the Basques to beat Betis at a tempting 23/20 (2.15).
