Manchester City - West Ham Betting Preview: Negredo to star for the hosts

An under-pressure Sam Allardyce brings his side to the Etihad Stadium in the Capital One Cup semi-final first leg, with our tipster backing the Spanish striker to find the net
Manchester City and West Ham face off in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday evening, with both sides looking to gain an advantage in the first leg of their semi-final.

Two games separate these sides from Wembley but, while the Hammers will be hoping for a positive result, they already face an uphill task with City boasting an unbelievable home record this season.

Manuel Pellegrini's side have won their last nine matches at the Etihad Stadium, with Bayern Munich the only team to not be beaten there so far in 2013-14.

With victories over Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool, it has not been an easy run for City, either. Betway price the home side at a short 3/20 (1.15).

West Ham are currently on a woeful run, losing four of their last five matches, including a 5-0 thrashing by Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup, and pressure has been mounting on Sam Allardyce with his side sitting 19th in the Premier League. Betway price the Hammers at 14/1 (15.00). The same firm have the draw at 15/2 (8.50).

With West Ham leaking goals and Pellegrini's side scoring for fun, City over 2.5 team goals may have been worth backing but the price of 3/5 (1.60) with Betway is a tad skinny, so may be worth avoiding.

Instead, it is worth looking at the goalscoring market to find a price that stands out. Alvaro Negredo has been in fine form at the Etihad, scoring nine goals in his last eight matches at home. With this in mind, the price for him to score anytime at 4/5 (1.80) is certainly worth backing. It is also worth noting the Spanish striker netted the only City goal away at Blackburn on Saturday.

Alvaro Negredo to score anytime at 4/5 (1.80) 1.5 point stake with Betway
