Sam Allardyce admitted that only a win will do when the Baggies visit Upton Park, but Al Hain-Cole is backing a low-scoring affair to end up in another disappointing draw
Defeat against Arsenal means Sam Allardyce’s men have now gone five Premier Leagues games without victory but they are 13/10 (2.30) favourites with William Hill to pick up all three points for just the fourth time this season.
The visitors have also edged nearer to the drop zone after an eight-game winless streak and are available at 11/5 (3.20) to come out on top at Upton Park for the first time in 10 years.
The Baggies have drawn more games than any other team in the division this campaign, and you can get odds of 11/5 (3.20) on them taking away a single point for the third match in succession.
Despite their recent struggles, the Hammers will have been disappointed not to pull off a surprise result against league leaders Arsenal, having missed a number of clear chances after finding themselves a goal ahead early in the second half.
However, Allardyce insisted that while losing to the league’s leading lights can be excused, Saturday’s clash represents a must-win game in his side’s fight against the drop.
Defeat against their managerless opponents would therefore be unthinkable, meaning the former Blackburn boss is unlikely to take any chances, particularly given his side’s struggles in front of goal.
Instead a defensive game should ensue, similar to the 0-0 draw against fellow strugglers Sunderland two weeks ago, meaning odds of 4/5 (1.80) are not to be missed on under 2.5 goals being scored, in a bet that would have paid out in each of the visitors’ last four matches.
However, with 13 draws between them in 36 fixtures so far, those 11/5 (3.20) odds are well worth taking up on neither side managing to find a win and the match ending up all square for the fifth time in six encounters.
