Levante - Elche Betting Preview: Why a goalless first half looks on the cards

Our Spanish expert, Phil Kitromilides, believes that, once again, it could be a quiet opening to La Liga's Friday night match as two mid-table sides meet in Valencia
La Liga returns this weekend with not quite a bang, more like a muted sigh, as two teams battling to maintain mid-table mediocrity meet at the Ciutat de Valencia stadium as Levante host Elche.

Both sides would be quite happy to take their respective positions in the table come the end of the season, yet they will be fully aware of just how tight things are at the wrong end of the division, with five points seperating the bottom seven clubs.

Having lost each of their last four league games, Levante can be backed at 7/5 (2.40) with BetVictor to end that run with a win, while Elche are offered at 12/5 (3.40) to record their third away victory of the season. The same firm offer punters the draw at the 11/5 (3.20).

Friday night games are a relatively new phenemenon in Spain and not an altogether welcome one. The least appetising fixture of the weekend is usually shunted out to the Friday night slot with little regard for supporters and that is a key factor to bear in mind when betting.

These matches are often offer relatively little in terms of entertainment but they offer an excellent
chance for punters to make some profit with one bet consistently paying out on a Friday night.

Under 0.5 goals in the first half is available at 6/4 (2.50) and had proved the correct selection in each of the last four Fridays in La Liga.

Furthermore, this bet has paid out in three out of Elche's last four league games, as well as in four of Levante's last five league fixtures. All this means that it is the logical selection, which looks well-priced for Friday's encounter.
