Las Palmas - Almeria Betting Preview: Why the hosts are good value for the win

Our Spanish expert, Phil Kitromilides, believes that the hosts' home record coupled with their opponents' away form means that an upset could be on the cards on Sunday
The Estadio de Gran Canaria has, over the last few years, been one of the toughest places to visit in Spain's Segunda Division and, on Sunday, top-flight Almeria make the visit to the island in the Copa del Rey.

The visitors have found life in the Primera tough since their summer promotion and are currently second-bottom of the table, having lost their last two matches and conceded eight goals in the process.

Las Palmas, for their part, have been solid so far, sitting fourth in the Segunda, and Bet365 offer them at 23/20 (2.15) for the win.

This price looks intriguing, especially considering Las Palmas' superb home record, where they have lost just three times in 26 Segunda matches.

Furthermore there is added spice to this clash given that the side from Gran Canaria lost out to Almeria in the semi-finals of the play-offs this summer in extra time.

Las Palmas have the extra motivation of revenge, while Almeria's entire focus will be on not exerting themselves too much or picking up any injuries which may affect their relegation battle.

Add to this the fact that Almeria have generally been very poor on the road this season, where they have been freely conceding goals, and a win for Las Palmas at 23/20 (2.15) begins to looks like a very good bet indeed.
