Seattle Sounders - Chivas USA Betting Preview: Why backing goals at both ends could prove profitable

Siegfried Schmid's side are on a run of fine form and will be expected to see off the visitors comfortably but our tipster is predicting an open contest
Seattle Sounders will be aiming to maintain their charge towards the top of the MLS Western Conference when they line up against basement boys Chivas USA at CenturyLink Field on Wednesday.

Siegfried Schmid’s side lie just eight points adrift of conference leaders Real Salt Lake and, with four games in hand, Sounders will be looking to take another stride towards the summit with victory over struggling Chivas.

Seattle have won five of their last six matches and are chalked up at just 4/11 (1.36) to make it six wins from seven on Wednesday.

Chivas are cut adrift at the bottom of the Western Conference - 12 points behind second-bottom San Jose Earthquakes - and Jose Luis Sanchez Sola’s side can be backed at a chunky 15/2 (8.50) with BetVictor to claim only their sixth win of the campaign. The draw is available at 18/5 (4.60) with the same firm.

The visitors have won just two of their last 15 matches in all competitions and, with Schmid’s men in impressive form, this looks likely to be another tough assignment for the Goats.

Despite their lowly league position, Chivas have managed to score in no fewer than eight of their last nine matches and, with that in mind, the 23/20 (2.15) quote from BetVictor for both teams to hit the target on Wednesday represents good value.

BetVictor also offer 31/40 (1.78) on the match featuring more than two goals and that is sure to be a popular play with punters given the open nature of Major League Soccer.

Chivas possess a threat going forward but their defensive deficiencies have been ruthlessly exposed time after time, with Sola’s men having leaked 40 goals in just 23 league matches during the campaign so far.

Should that trend continue, there may be value in backing the even money (2.0) quote from BetVictor for Seattle to lead the contest at both half-time and full-time.

Better value, though, lies in the 23/20 (2.15) quote for both teams to score and it is a price that should be snapped up by punters ahead of Wednesday’s clash at CenturyLink Field.
