The reigning champions' recent visits to Mestalla, however, have not been their happiest, with the Catalans drawing each of their last three matches in all competitions away to Valencia. Coral price another stalemate at 3/1 (4.00) with Valencia available at 5/1 (6.00) and offer Barca at 8/15 (1.53).
Having lost their best player this summer for the fourth year in a row, Valencia look considerably weaker than last season and their performance during the 3-1 defeat at Espanyol last time out left coach Miroslav Dukic furious.
Laying into his players afterwards, the Serb claimed his side "are not as good as they think they are" and professed to be ashamed at their showing. He will hope to get a reaction against Barca, all the while suspecting that the Catalans are simply too good for his side.
Backing Barca, of course, looks to be the way forward and, while outright the price is too small, backing them to win the first half at 19/20 (1.95) looks an excellent option.
This bet has paid out in both of the Blaugrana's league games this season and it will continue to do so in the majority of fixtures they play.
That it is priced as high as it is, is down to the supposed quality of the opposition, but Valencia are not an outfit that inspire a great deal of confidence.
Should Barca get an early goal they should go on to win the first half and punters can practically double their money should they chose to invest in this attractive looking selection.
