Motherwell-Newcastle United Betting Preview: Why the draw looks to be the best bet

In the first match of pre-season for both sides, Phil Kitromilides believes honours will be shared and that the price of 12/5 for the draw offers serious value
It has not been the most exciting of summers for Newcastle so far with the somewhat surprising arrival of Joe Kinnear on Tyneside the only notable piece of news.

Indeed, the Magpies begin pre-season as the only side in the Premier League yet to make a senior signing and play their first friendly at SPL side Motherwell.

Coral price the Premier League outfit at 4/5 (1.80) for the win, but those odds are far from tempting.
Having failed to strengthen a squad that faded badly towards the end of last season, Newcastle are not an appealing betting prospect.

Furthermore, they face a Motherwell side who have a strong record at home and ended their campaign well.

Few sides came away from Fir Park with anything last season and Motherwell will once again be tough to beat at home.

Thy can be backed at 13/5 (3.80) but instead the draw looks a better bet at 12/5 (3.60).
With it being the first match of pre-season for both sides, it is likely to lack a particularly competitive edge.

Newcastle boast on paper the better side, but Motherwell, as mentioned previously, are strong at home and are preparing for a Europa League campaign. The draw looks a decent shout and is offered at an extremely healthy price.
