The England striker informed the club that he would not be signing a new contract, which lead to speculation about where he would end up. In the end he performed a U-turn, signing a large new deal to stay at Old Trafford.

|Odds from Coral
Sir Alex Ferguson has chosen to play Rooney in a number of positions, mostly in midfield, which has seen the natural striker score only 12 goals in the league, compared to 27 the year before.
With the news of his desire to leave breaking in the last few weeks of the season, Ferguson came out on the final day and said Rooney would not be sold. However, with David Moyes due to take the helm at the start of July, this matter is likely to be his first agenda.
Coral price the wantaway striker at 4/7 (1.57) not to be at United come the start of the 2013/14 season, and price him at 5/4 (2.25) to still be there.
With United fans unlikely to forgive him once again for this outburst, it looks certain that he will leave this summer. The question is, where to?
The Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are the early favourites, with Coral pricing them at 5/4 (2.25). There was speculation earlier this season that they were in line to sign Luis Suarez.
With those rumours cooling off, Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski is now being heavily tipped for Bayern. With the Bavarians frontline being exceptionally strong already, it’s worth avoiding this price as they may not be able to fit Rooney into the team.
A better bet would be to back Rooney to stay in England and move to United’s rivals, Chelsea. The Europa League Champions had their heart set on a deal for Radamel Falcao, but with Monaco seemingly the likely destination for the Atletico Madrid striker, the Blues will have to look elsewhere.
With Rooney recently welcoming the birth of his second child, expect him to stay in England and with Coral pricing Rooney at 2/1 (3.00) to join Chelsea, this is certainly worth investing in.
