Betting Special: Backing Bradford to cap a remarkable season with promotion from League Two

Al Hain-Cole has weighed up all of the play-off contenders and thinks that Phil Parkinson's men have demonstrated enough in the big games to justify their tag as favourites
After a marathon 46-game League Two season, the hopes of four promotion contenders rest on the lottery of the play-offs.

Despite finishing in seventh place, Bradford City are William Hill's favourites to secure a place in League One next season, at odds of 9/4 (3.25).

To win the League Two Play-offs

Odds from William Hill
Bradford City 9/4
Cheltenham Town 5/2
Northampton Town 11/4
Burton Albion 3/1
This price is more than justified by the fact that the Bantams finished the regular season on the best form of any other play-off contender and also possess the most dominant record against their rivals in the league, having defeated each of them at least once.

Phil Parkinson's men have demonstrated a flair for knockout football by reaching the final of this season's Capital One Cup and look like the best bet as they come face-to-face with a Burton Albion side whom they overcame 1-0 just over a week previously.

However, the Brewers boast the division's best home record and have the generally recognised advantage of playing the second leg in front of their own fans, where they have already beaten their semi-final opponents this season.

Nevertheless, Gary Rowett's men have struggled on the road all season and a 7-1 defeat at Port Vale in their penultimate away league game goes some way to explaining the 3/1 (4.00) odds on offer for them to reach the third tier for the first time in their history.

The second most feared away ground in the league is the Sixfields Stadium, home to Northampton Town, who play host to the other semi-final first leg.

The Cobblers are available at 11/4 (3.75) to seal a return to League One after a four-year absence but
their record against their fellow promotion hopefuls does not bode well.

Aidy Boothroyd's men managed just one win and four defeats in league fixtures against the other three play-off contenders and must find a way past a Cheltenham Town side who were one of only three teams to complete the double over them.

Unlike the rest of their rivals, the Robins still harboured hopes of automatic promotion right up until the last day of the regular season and can be backed at 5/2 (3.50) to bounce back from that disappointment by picking up a play-off winners' medal.
