League One Bet of the Day: Honours even between Crawley and Preston

Al Hain-Cole has cast his eye over all of tonight's League One action, and thinks that there is real value to be found in backing a low-scoring draw at Broadfield Stadium
With nothing but pride left to play for, Crawley and Preston could be forgiven for already having one eye on next season when they meet in this evening’s League One mid-table clash.
The hosts have enjoyed a promising debut season in the third tier, and still harboured outside hopes of reaching the play-offs until Saturday’s defeat at Oldham.
It has been a meteoric rise for a side who only turned professional eight years ago, and they are favourites at 11/8 (2.88) with Bet Victor to overcome their far more illustrious opponents.
North End appeared in danger of heading in the opposite direction to Richie Barker’s men after a poor first half of the season, but were reinvigorated by the appointment of Simon Grayson in February.
The Lilywhites have lost just twice in 13 games under the former Huddersfield boss, and are available at 21/10 (3.10) to continue their resurgence with three points in West Sussex.
While few away teams have come away from the Broadfield Stadium with a win this season, Crawley’s inability to turn draws into wins at home has played a big part in undermining their promotion ambitions.
The Reds have shared the spoils in eight of their last 14 games in front of their own fans, and it would be no surprise if they were held to another stalemate by a resilient away side tonight, at healthy 23/10 (3.30) odds.
Preston are yet to concede more than once in a game since Grayson took over, with strong defensive performances helping them to draw three of their six matches on the road in that period.
The former defender seems to have prioritised rearguard action over attack on their travels, and this has resulted in just nine goals being scored at either end in those six away trips.
A bet on under 2.5 goals to be scored would have paid out in every one of those games, as well as seven of the hosts’ last eight on their own turf, so appears to be where the easy money lies at 31/40 (1.78) here.
