Serbia - Scotland Betting Preview: Serbia set to pile more misery on sorry Scots

Gordon Strachan's men suffered a dismal defeat against Wales at Hampden Park on Friday night and Willie Duncan thinks that the Scots will struggle again on Tuesday
After suffering a disappointing defeat at the hands of Wales at Hampden Park on Friday night, Gordon Strachan’s search for his first competitive win as Scotland boss continues when his side make the trip to face Serbia on Tuesday night.

Sinisa Mihajlovic’s team have lost their last three World Cup 2014 qualification fixtures, the most recent loss coming against Croatia in Zagreb on Friday night, but are rated as warm favourites to get back to winning ways on Tuesday with BetVictor making the hosts an 8/13 (1.62) shot to pick up all three points here.

The Scots have garnered just two points from their opening five World Cup qualifiers but can be backed at 5/1 (6.0) with BetVictor to restore some pride by claiming victory on Tuesday.

The same firm go 14/5 (3.80) that the match ends in stalemate – as it did when these two sides met in Glasgow back in September.

Serbia have struggled to make an impact in Group A thus far but did enjoy an emphatic 6-1 home victory over Wales in September.

Despite some poor results, it should be noted that Mihajlovic’s men recorded back-to-back 3-1 friendly victories on the road over Chile and Cyprus respectively before losing out to Croatia on Friday night and they should prove too strong for the struggling Scots here.

Gordon Strachan’s side will be without Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher for Tuesday's clash after the 25-year-old suffered injury in the opening minutes of Friday’s defeat to Wales and it seems likely that the Scots will find themselves on the back foot for long spells on Tuesday.

Despite their poor form, Scotland have conceded just one first-half goal in qualification and Serbia may need to exercise patience here. With that in mind, the 11/10 (2.10) quote from BetVictor for the first goal to come after the 27th minute looks to be a solid selection, while the 11/5 (3.20) on offer from the same firm for no goals to be scored in the first half is decent value.

Should the Scots keep the hosts at bay in the first half, BetVictor’s juicy 7/2 (4.50) quote for the first half to be drawn with Serbia winning the second half is a price which is sure to catch the eye of those seeking value here and one which should be backed accordingly.

First goal after 27 minutes at 11/10 (2.10) with BetVictor
Draw at half time/Serbia full time at 7/2 (4.50) with BetVictor
