Oldham-Everton Betting Preview: Fellaini to help the Toffees avoid repeating Liverpool's mistake

Boundary Park welcomes another Merseyside giant in the FA Cup, but Jamie Dickenson is backing Everton not to slip up like local rivals Liverpool with the Belgian scoring
Oldham will be looking to take another Premier League scalp when they host Everton in the FA Cup Fifth Round on Saturday.

The League One side beat Liverpool 3-2 in the last round on home soil, but again are huge outsiders for victory here with Bet Victor at 17/2 (9.50).

The Toffees are unlikely to be accused of complacency against their lower league opposition though, having dispatched Cheltenham and Bolton already in the competition.

David Moyes' side are perhaps a touch short for some at 4/11 (1.36) for victory, but they have lost just one away game in their last eight.

That was a defeat to Premier League leaders Manchester United, while their previous match was a draw with Aston Villa and another stalemate this time around is priced at 22/5 (5.40).

Oldham manager Paul Dickov has since left the club despite guiding the side to that famous victory over Liverpool, as his team continued to flirt with relegation.

Caretaker boss Tony Philliskirk led the side to a 3-1 win over MK Dons last weekend, and is set to be in charge for the visit of Everton.

Oldham have won just three of their last 12 matches, although their home form has improved with back-to-back wins following a run of four straight Boundary Park losses.

Keeping out Everton will be no easy feat though, and the Oldham defence isn't the strongest with the team having failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 12 fixtures.

Those looking for better value supporting the visitors will be interested in the 6/5 (2.20) odds available on Marouane Fellaini to score in an Everton win.

The tall Belgian often gets on the scoresheet for Everton, especially in this campaign, having racked up 11 goals so far this season, and was in inspired form recently against Villa scoring twice to earn a point for his side.

Fellaini was less dangerous at Old Trafford last time out - with reports suggesting he was carrying an injury - but he should be back to fighting fit for the trip to Oldham and can lead his side to victory.

Oldham did beat Everton in the FA Cup last time the two teams met in 2008 at Goodison Park, and although lightening is unlikely to strike twice, they could score against the Toffees at Boundary Park.

Everton have conceded in 22 of their last 24 games in all competitions, while Oldham have notched seven times in their last three games.

Backing a home consolation goal looks wise therefore, and who better to support to score than Jose Baxter, Oldham's Liverpudlian striker who joined the club from Everton.

Like Fellaini, Baxter has 11 goals for far this campaign and is a worthy 3/1 (4.0) bet to score anytime against his former team.

Marouane Fellaini to score in an Everton win at 6/5 (2.20) with BetVictor
Jose Baxter to score anytime at 3/1 (4.0) with BetVictor
