thumbnail Hello,

The Toon Army are in need of a win to put the shocking collapse against Arsenal behind them, but Al Hain-Cole thinks that the return of the Toffees' top scorer could spell trouble

After their incredible 7-3 thrashing against Arsenal, Newcastle will be desperate to bounce back with a win when they play host to Everton on Wednesday.

Alan Pardew’s men have lost eight of their last 10 matches, and may just be starting to look anxiously over their shoulders at the mere two-point cushion that separates them from the relegation zone.

Victory in front of the St James’ Park faithful would therefore do much to settle the nerves on Tyneside, and you can get odds of 21/10 (3.10) with Bet365 on a home win.

Defeat against Chelsea last weekend was just the third Premier League loss of the season for the Toffees, who are favourites at 13/10 (2.30) to emerge victorious this evening.

The previous meeting between these two sides ended in a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park earlier in the season, and there are odds of 12/5 (3.40) available on them cancelling each other out once again.

Saturday’s shambolic defeat at the Emirates Stadium dramatically exposed Newcastle’s fragile defence, as a side that recorded 15 clean sheets last season have now only managed to keep their opponents at bay on three occasions this season.

They are unlikely to succeed in keeping out an Everton team that have only failed to score once so far this season, although the free-scoring Demba Ba will be looking forward to facing a defence that have just two clean sheets to their name themselves.

A bet on both teams to score would have paid out in the last 16 consecutive matches involving David Moyes’ men, and is certainly where the smart money lies at generous 8/13 (1.62) odds here.

This encounter sees Marouane Fellaini return from suspension for the visitors, after he missed the last three matches for headbutting Stoke’s Ryan Shawcross.

The big Belgian’s reckless behaviour infuriated his manager, and he will be keen to make amends by rediscovering the goal-scoring form that has seen him hit the back of the net eight times in 15 league games this season.

The former Standard Liege man looks like great value at 21/10 (3.10) to hit the ground running by getting on the scoresheet on his comeback.
