Valencia - Atletico Madrid Betting Preview: Why at least three goals looks highly likely

With both of these sides in excellent scoring form, our Spanish expert Phil Kitromilides believes backing a game with at least three goals is a nailed on selection
Atletico Madrid are in unchartered territory; never before has this famous footballing institution won 13 matches in a row, while their current unbeaten run of 23 matches is the longest in recent memory.

Conversely Valencia are suffering one of their worst starts to a season in the last few years, with Los Che currently sitting 11th in the table, 14 points behind second placed Atleti.

Yet the home side remain slight favourites with Paddy Power pricing Valencia at 13/10 (2.30) to record a win with Atletico available at 15/8 (2.88). The draw can be backed at 23/10 (3.30).

Analysing Valencia's home results might be a clue to their status as favourites with Mauricio Pellegrino's side unbeaten in the league at Mestalla this season winning their last three games having opened their home account with a draw against Deportivo La Coruna.

Valencia have also been in decent scoring form at home having only failed to score once there in their last 23 league matches.

Atletico's excellent unbeaten run meanwhile has been based upon the side's ability to find the back of the net with such regularity, with Los Rojiblancos scoring in each of their last 24 competitive fixtures.

Backing both teams to score then looks like an extremely solid selection yet the price of 4/7 (1.57) might deter some punters from investing.

What appears to be a more universally appealing bet is over 2.5 goals with the price of 8/11 (1.73) perhaps a little higher than might have been expected given the two side's respective abilities in front of goal.

This bet has paid out in 10 of Atletico's last 13 matches in all competitions, and has proved the correct selection in six of Valencia's last eight home league games.

For slightly higher odds the price of 21/10 (3.10) for Valencia to score first and fail to win looks worthy of some consideration, given the side's goal scoring ability but fragile confidence.
