The international games can often act as a nice break from the non-stop action of domestic European football and there are still some good betting opportunities but there is nothing like a full week of Premier League fixtures to get back into top gear.
Selections for this weekend
I am going to stick with two Premier League games this weekend. One from Saturday and one from the later televised game on Sunday.
West Ham v Southampton - Over 2.5 goals
The form for this game screams goals and I'm happy to take the 8/11 (1.73) about seeing at least three of them at Upton Park. Southampton have seen a mammoth 23 goals in their last five matches and they seem determined to try and outscore their opposition rather than improving the defence, which should help this bet.
West Ham have been involved in some high scoring affairs themselves in recent weeks, 13 goals in their last four and they will hope to secure a win over a Saints side that have lost their three League matches on the road so far.
That might suggest there is value in backing the Hammers although the quality of opposition of those matches - Everton, Arsenal and Manchester City - puts me off the 8/11 (1.73) about the home win and I would much prefer to take an angle on the goals markets.
Both teams have scored in Southampton's last five matches as well as West Ham's last four so goals at both ends should be forthcoming. 8/11 (1.73) is a solid enough price for me to invest £15 of my betting bankroll in over 2.5 goals with Paddy Power.
QPR v Everton: Everton to score two or more goals
It is fair to say that Queens Park Rangers have not made the best of starts to the Premier League campaign, a goalless draw with Chelsea aside, it has been a rough ride for Mark Hughes and his men so far. Their task does not seem to be getting any easier either as this weekend they host Everton who have begun well.
One positive for QPR is that Everton have not had the best results on the road, two wins in their last five matches away from Goodison Park is not a great return so that puts me off backing them outright at the 5/4 (2.25) on offer.
Despite their mixed away form, Everton have scored goals on their travels this season and the Evens (2.0) on offer for them scoring at least twice looks to be a good option.
The Toffees have hit two goals in away games at Aston Villa, Swansea and Wigan, that is three of their four Premier League away games so far and they could do so again here.
QPR have leaked two or more goals in five of their seven matches in the Premier League this season and in two of their three matches at home.
With Hughes still struggling to find a formula that works at the back, David Moyes' side could be in for some success on the goalscoring front. Evens (2.0) at Paddy Power is a fair enough price and another £15 of the bankroll goes on that.

We had several entries go really close over the international break with one leg letting down a multiple bet. Do not forget it can be a single bet too, the biggest priced winner will claim the prize but it could pay off to submit a safer bet too. Multiples are risky by nature so you could profit from taking a more sensible approach with your tipping.
Entry is open until midday on Saturday so get your emails in early to ensure your tip is counted.
