Manchester City - Borussia Dortmund Betting Preview: Goals seem guaranteed in Manchester

Roberto Mancini's men are eager to kickstart their Champions League campaign against Jurgen Klopp's side, but Willie Duncan is backing goals at both ends

Manchester City were left heartbroken by Cristiano Ronaldo's stoppage-time winner for Real Madrid in matchday one, meaning the Blues will be desperate to make amends for that defeat when they host Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night.

Roberto Mancini’s side tasted victory for the first time in five matches when they scraped past Fulham at the weekend and City are chalked up as 5/6 (1.83) shots with Paddy Power to follow up with three vital European points when they take on Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Dortmund kicked off their own Champions League campaign with a 1-0 home victory over Ajax and the Germans are chalked up as 100/30 (4.33) shots with Paddy Power to grab a second successive group stage victory in Manchester.

The same firm go 13/5 (3.60) that the match ends in a draw.

City were boosted at the weekend by the return of last season’s top goalscorer Sergio Aguero, and the Argentine can be backed at a juicy 9/2 (5.50) to open the scoring against Dortmund on Wednesday, while his fellow countryman Carlos Tevez is rated as an 11/2 (6.50) shot with the same firm to break the deadlock.

Dortmund’s attack is likely to be spearheaded by Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, who is chalked up at 15/2 (8.50) to score first, while Marco Reus, who inspired his side to a 5-0 demolition of Borussia Monchengladbach last time out, is a tempting 8/1 (9.0) chance to net first.

Neither side has hit peak form yet this term but Dortmund’s emphatic win at the weekend will ensure that Klopp’s men will be confident ahead of the trip to Etihad Stadium and the 2/1 (3.0) for the Germans in the double chance market is worthy of consideration here.

Dortmund have scored 10 goals in their last three matches and have scored in each of their last 27 matches, while City have yet to keep a clean sheet this term so the 4/7 (1.57) on offer from Paddy Power, whilst short, is still outstanding value and must be backed accordingly.

Both teams to score at 4/7 (1.57) with Paddy Power
Marco Reus to score first at 8/1 (9.0) with Paddy Powe
