With both teams out of form and struggling for goals, Phil Kitromilides is predicting a low scoring encounter at the Home Depot Centre on Wednesday evening
Having lost six of their last seven away matches, the team from Washington State are on a miserable run of form on the road, and the bottom side in the Eastern Conference will be short of confidence.
Their opponents tonight have faired a little better in recent weeks, with Chivas recovering from an appalling start to the season, to record three wins in their last six matches in all competitions.
A home win can be backed at evens (2.00) this evening, but with only two victories in their own back yard all season, Chivas too inspire little confidence for punters.
In encounters where both sides are out of form and lacking that all important confidence, the temptation is to back under 2.5 goals being scored and this is offered at 18/25 (1.72).
Chivas' home matches have generally been low scoring affairs, with seven of the ten played in the MLS this season, seeing under 2.5 goals.
Portland meantime have been in woeful scoring form on the road, failing to net in any of their last five away matches, and while they have been leaking goals fairly consistently, expect this to be a tight affair between two of the conference's most out of form sides.
If a close match is predicted than a small value bet on the draw could be a wise investment and it is available at 12/5 (3.40). Both sides would be fairly satisfied with a draw and with two of Chivas' last four matches ending in stalemates, the price looks appealing.
