With the Premier League season finishing, England manager Roy Hodgson can officially bid goodbye to the West Brom and focus on the considerable task of assembling a national squad capable of challenging the continent's best teams at Euro 2012.
Perhaps the hardest task to befall Hodgson will be picking which midfielders to afford a seat on the plane to Poland and Ukraine.
The two shortest priced players to be included in the squad are both central midfielders, with Steven Gerrard priced at 1/66 (1.015) with Bet365 and Gareth Barry at 1/33 (1.030). Both are nailed on selections, but the prices are prohibitively small so you will have to look elsewhere for some value in the market.
Having enjoyed another excellent season, his first at the heart of the Tottenham midfield, Scott Parker is practically guaranteed a place on the plane, arguably more so than Gareth Barry.
His price to be included in the squad is considerably bigger at 1/10 (1.10) but still not particularly attractive unless punters are considering investing extremely heavily.
Instead for genuine value, look to the heart of the Manchester United midfield and consider backing Paul Scholes' inclusion at a tempting 5/2 (3.50).
Since his eye catching return to the side, his metronomic passing has been as accurate and incisive as ever, and despite his age and reluctance to represent the national side, he offers something that few other players do. But could Hodgson coax Scholes back onto the international scene?
Also worth some consideration as an outside bet to make the squad is United's Tom Cleverley offered at 6/1 (7.00).
Billed as a natural successor to Scholes, the 22-year-old's season was sadly disrupted by injury, but his dynamism in midfield and his natural energy could make him an ideal complement to some of the more established members of the squad.
Other prices of interest may include Stewart Downing at 4/6 (1.67), Adam Johnson at 11/10 (2.10) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at 7/4 (2.75)
