Serie A Betting Preview: Don't expect both teams to score in the Milan derby

With plenty at stake for both sides, Phil Kitromilides can see a tight game with at least one team failing to score when Inter host their fierce rivals at San Siro
This season has been a painful one for Inter fans, watching their side crumble into a pale shadow of the team that were crowned champions of Europe in 2010 - a throwback to the traumatic trophyless years of the 1990s.

Yet redemption for the Nerazzuri could be at hand, not in the form of a cup, but in the delicious joy of denying their eternal rivals the chance to retain the Scudetto.

Victory for Inter would all but end AC Milan's hopes of preventing Juventus from claiming the title, and that will be incentive enough in this most passionate of derbies.

It is indicative of just how poor a campaign Inter have endured that despite their being the "home" team they are still priced as underdogs by Bet365 at 13/5 (3.60) with a Milan victory available at evens (2.00).

Victory for both sides is crucial then but for very different reasons, and as such it is hard to predict which of the two teams will want it more. The draw could be appealing for a small value bet at 5/2 (3.50) although there there has not been a draw in this fixture for nearly eight years.

Instead back "No" in the both teams to score market at 11/10 (2.10) which looks like being a shrewd investment. This bet has paid out in six out of the last eight Milan derbies, and given what is at stake another tight encounter is expected which is likely to be won by the odd goal.
