With another weekend of tempting fixtures in the Premier League and Bundesliga, Jonathan Day picks out two solid selections for Sunday's matches
Arsenal v Manchester CityManchester City’s title charge has stuttered recently with just one win in four games and even their 100 per cent winning record at home in the Premier League was lost last weekend against Sunderland.
Yet despite boasting the best defensive record in the league, Manchester City have now gone four games without keeping a clean sheet and Roberto Mancini’s side will have to quickly get back on the pace if they are to harbour hopes of catching city rivals Manchester United and claiming a first Premier League title.
With David Silva out of sorts, the introduction of Samir Nasri could prove inspirational against his former club.QPR’s victory over Arsenal at Loftus Road brought to an end a run of seven straight victories for the Gunners, but Theo Walcott’s strike in the first half means Arsenal have now scored in each of their last eight Premier League games.
With Sunday’s showdown vitally important for both sides, expect both teams to find the back of the net. Although not the biggest price, it looks a solid selection.
Tip: Both Teams to Score (Arsenal v Man City) at 8/13 (1.61) at bet365
Schalke v Hannover
Third meets fifth in the Bundesliga as Schalke welcome Hannover to the Veltins-Arena.
Schalke’s record in Gelsenkirchen reads 11 wins, one draw, and two defeats, and Huub Stevens has helped fire Die Konigsblauen up the league table thanks to top scorer Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Spanish veteran Raul.Despite holding fifth place in the Bundesliga, Hannover have won just twice on the road, losing seven games including the last three away games on the bounce. Former Manchester United striker Mame Diouf has contributed with a few goals and Didier Ya Konan has also been back amongst the goals recently.
Hannover’s last seven matches have all finished with three goals or more and with both sides hopeful of European football, goals again should flow at the Veltins-Arena.
Tip: Over 2.5 Goals (Schalke v Hannover) at 8/13 (1.61) at bet365
