This is a top-of-the-table Championship clash with the winners knowing that three points would go a long way to ensuring their place in the Premier League next season.

Mixed with some pretty patchy away form, the Hammers have won their last four games at Upton Park and are priced at 5/4 (2.25) with Bet365 to record another victory.

The Saints, meanwhile, have stuttered after their truly stunning opening half of the season and have recorded just one win from their last six games. They are on offer at 11/5 (3.40) to win in east London, while the draw, which is always a tempting option when two promotion rivals meet, is priced at 9/4 (3.25).

In the goal-scorers market, out-of-form West Ham striker Carlton Cole leads the betting at 11/2 (6.50) to open the scoring, but with only two goals in his last ten appearances he is not in particularly appealing form.

Instead try backing Ricardo Vaz Te, the Portuguese forward signed on transfer deadline day having ten goals in his twelve previous appearances, and is priced at 12/5 (3.40) to score at any time. Another January signing is Billy Sharp who swapped Doncaster for Southampton, and opened his account for the Saints in Saturday's 2-0 over Burnley.

Sharp is available at 2/1 (3.00) to score at any time and his potential partnership with Rickie Lambert could be pivotal to the club's automatic promotion hopes.

West Ham have failed to score just once in their last fourteen matches, and brought in three new strikers in the January transfer window. Southampton's new strike pairing of Lambert and Sharp has the potential to be one of the most prolific in the division.

Given that, the 4/5 (1.80) on offer for both teams to score looks like offering real value and is the bet of the day.
