Saturday's Bet of the Day: Manchester United to get the better of Liverpool

With the Red Devils having the chance to go above Manchester City if they can beat Kenny Dalglish's men William Duncan is backing a United win on Saturday.

One of the oldest rivalries in English football will be renewed this weekend when Manchester United host Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are priced up at 5/6 (1.83) with Paddy Power to get the better of their bitter rivals with a Liverpool win chalked up at 10/3 (4.33) with the same firm. The draw is a 13/5 (3.60) shot.

Both sides will go into this lunchtime clash on the back of a draw in their previous outing but there will be contrasting emotions in the two camps about those respective results so another even game could appeal at 13/5 (3.60).

Sir Alex Ferguson’s men will surely be pleased to have emerged from Stamford Bridge with a point, having trailed Chelsea 3-0 at one stage while Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool were left frustrated at having to settle for a 0-0 draw against an injury ravaged Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Monday night.

It is United’s remarkable ability to grind out results that makes them deserving of favouritism here and they should be backed with Paddy Power at those odds of 5/6 (1.83) to see off the challenge of Liverpool this weekend.

A win here will see Manchester United head to the summit of the English Premier League table for at least 24 hours and that kind of opportunity is rarely passed up by the Old Trafford side.

Liverpool’s attack will likely be spearheaded by the returning Luis Suarez, who had to settle for a substitute’s appearance against Spurs, and Paddy Power are giving punters a very special offer regarding the Uruguayan striker.

If Suarez scores at any time in the match, Paddy Power will refund all first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles – an offer which represents terrific value, especially for Liverpool backers.

With United likely to dominate proceedings though, those seeking a bit of extra value should look no further than Paddy Power’s offer of 9/2 (5.50) for Manchester United to win both halves.

Bet of the day: Manchester United to win at 5/6 with Paddy Power

Value bet: Manchester United to win both halves at 9/2 with Paddy Power
