Scottish Premier League leaders Celtic are aiming to extend their lead at the top of the table to four points on Wednesday night when they travel to Tynecastle Park to face Heart of Midlothian in the SPL.
Celtic are 8/11 (1.73) to record a victory over the Jambos with William Hill, who rate Hearts as 4/1 (5.00) shots to upset the Hoops. The draw is available at 5/2 (3.50).
Neil Lennon’s men will be full of confidence ahead of their trip to Edinburgh, having won an astonishing 15 Scottish league and cup matches in a row to overhaul a 15 point deficit to rivals Rangers.
However, Celtic may be forgiven for entering this clash with a little trepidation as Paulo Sergio’s side were the last Scottish club to record a victory over the Hoops, having beaten Celtic 2-0 at Tynecastle back in October.
Matches between these two sides are usually close affairs and that point was underlined in December when Celtic secured a narrow 1-0 win over Hearts at Celtic Park and that victory was achieved only because the Edinburgh side missed an 89th minute penalty.
Celtic have gone from strength to strength following a stuttering start to the campaign while Hearts’ season has been turbulent with financial problems blighting the Tynecastle club. Plus, first choice goalkeeper Marian Kello was excluded from the squad for Sunday’s Scottish Cup tie against St Johnstone due to the player being in dispute with the club’s directors.
Nevertheless, Hearts are usually strong at home and have conceded just nine goals at Tynecastle this term so the Jambos can be trusted to keep it tight.
That makes the 7/10 (1.70) on offer from William Hill for fewer than 2.5 goals to be scored the best bet here, while the same firm’s offer of 13/2 (7.50) for the hosts to earn a creditable 1-1 draw is also worthy of support with lower stakes.
Bet of the day: Under 2.5 goals at 7/10 (1.70) with William Hill
Value bet: 1-1 draw at 13/2 (7.50) with William Hill
