Sunday's Bet of the Day extra: Newcastle to claim another win over a vulnerable Aston Villa

The Magpies welcome back top scorer Demba Ba and new signing Papiss Cisse, and William Duncan believes they'll have too much for Aston Villa on Sunday

Newcastle United have been one of the surprise packages of the English Premier League this season and Alan Pardew’s side can keep their fine season on track by defeating an unpredictable Aston Villa side at The Sports Direct Arena on Sunday.

The Magpies are chalked up at Even money (2.00) with 188Bet to record what would be a seventh home victory this season while Aston Villa are rated as 12/5 (3.40) chances. The draw is priced up at 11/5 (3.20).

Recent defeats against Fulham and Brighton and Hove Albion might have suggested that the wheels had come off for Newcastle following a hugely impressive start to the season.

However, Wednesday night’s 2-0 away victory against Blackburn Rovers ensured that they will be sitting fifth in the English Premier League table going into this weekend’s round of fixtures.

Newcastle should also be boosted by the return of  striker Demba Ba ahead of the visit of  Villa after Senegal suffered a shock early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations. Ba is a very tempting 9/2 (5.50) to score the first goal in this game.

Aston Villa have scored four goals in their last two matches but, incredibly, have managed only a draw and a defeat from those games courtesy of some kamikaze defending.

Aston Villa led 2-0 in the FA Cup against Arsenal last weekend but conceded three times in the second half to exit that competition, but they showed impressive resolve to cancel out a two-goal deficit against Queens Park Rangers to salvage a 2-2 draw from their Premier League clash on Wednesday night.

However, with Ba likely to return for the home side, who enjoyed a 3-0 victory over Manchester United at the beginning of January, the Magpies will punish any such slack Villa defending on Sunday and, thus, Newcastle look like a solid selection with Ba being a good value bet to break the deadlock.

Bet of the day: Newcastle United to win: Evens with 188Bet

Value Bet: Demba Ba to score first: 9/2 with 188Bet
