The January transfer window means this week will see several new strikers on show in the Premier League. For punters, that can put an interesting slant on the goalscorer betting as forwards look to impress their new clubs.

Nikica Jelavic – Last Goalscorer 6/1 (7.0) with William Hill

Everton have been crying out for a new attacking option. There were question marks about the Goodison Park forward line even when Louis Saha, Jermaine Beckford and Yakubu were in Everton shirts, but with all three now gone the responsibility falls to a new man – Nikica Jelavic.

The Croatian forward is a skillful player with a crowd-pleasing style and if he can bring anything like his Rangers form south of the border then he can be expected to be a real favourite at Goodison Park. After an impressive win for David Moyes’ side against Manchester City in midweek, Jelavic’s chance may come off the bench at Wigan on Saturday. For that reason, the 6/1 (7.0) with William Hill for Jelavic to be the last goalscorer is the pick.

Bobby Zamora – Anytime Goalscorer at 7/4 (2.75) with William Hill

At Loftus Road, there may well be an all-new strike partnership for QPR as they take on Wolves. Djibril Cisse made a goalscoring debut at Aston Villa in midweek and he should be joined by fellow new signing Bobby Zamora in Mark Hughes’ starting line-up.

Zamora will surely fancy his chances against a Wolves side without a Premier League clean sheet since August. Zamora is available at 7/4 (2.75) with William Hill to score at any time.

Papiss Cisse – Last Goalscorer at 5/1 (6.0) with William Hill

The final debutant striker worth a look this weekend is Papiss Cisse, Newcastle’s £10million new signing.

Cisse boasts an impressive goalscoring record having scored 22 goals in the Bundesliga for Freiburg last season and will be looking to form a lethal partnership with fellow Senegalese forward Demba Ba. Cisse may not start the home game against Aston Villa on Sunday but he is the pick to complete the scoring at 5/1 (6.0) with William Hill.
