A poor run of results have seen the odds tumble on the Wolves boss being the next manager to face the axe but all is not well at Blackburn or Chelsea either

The "Next Manager to Leave" markets are often popular with punters, the fast pace at which a manager can fall from grace makes it an ideal betting opportunity as longer prices can tumble over a matter of days depending upon results and offer tasty returns from small stakes.

William Hill have priced up who will be the next Premier League boss to leave their post.

Back Mick McCarthy 1/2 (1.5) with William Hill

Not so long ago it was Blackburn’s Steve Kean in the firing line, now attention has turned to Mick McCarthy at Wolves and the feeling is that the Irishman is a strong favourite to be the next manager to leave his post.

A run of 11 games without a win has seen the storm clouds gather over Molineux and McCarthy appears to have no answers at present. With owner Steve Morgan having labelled results “unacceptable” and reported to have delivered a furious rant from within the dressing room after Tuesday’s 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool, the writing would appear to be on the wall. McCarthy is available at 1/2 (1.5) with William Hill.

Back Steve Kean 5/1 (6.0) with William Hill

So short are the odds for the Wolves boss, there may be value to be had elsewhere should McCarthy turn things around in the coming weeks. With matches against QPR and West Brom lined up that has to be a possibility. And so, Kean comes back into the frame.

The Blackburn manager is 5/1 (6.0) to be the next manager to leave and February’s fixtures could see the beleaguered boss hit rock bottom once again. A vital home game against QPR is sandwiched between daunting fixtures against Arsenal and Manchester City – meaning a miserable month may be ahead for the Scot. The 5/1 won't be available for long if results continue to edge the club closer to relegation.

Back Andre Villas-Boas 8/1 (9.0) with William Hill

Elsewhere, there is a reminder that it isn’t just those managers staving off relegation that find themselves under pressure.

Andre Villas-Boas is also failing to meet expectations at Chelsea. Roman Abramovich appears aware that this is a transition period for his club, but having relieved managers of their duty for finishing second, the prospect of dropping out of the top four could be fatal for the Portuguese coach.

February sees a home game against Manchester United followed by a trip to Goodison Park before two cup ties may decided his fate. A potential banana skin in the shape of in-form Birmingham precedes a Champions League visit to Napoli. If February isn’t Villas-Boas’ friend, the 8/1 (9.0) on offer with William Hill might prove to be excellent value.
