Montenegro have slipped from a relatively strong position two games ago to outsiders as they look to qualify automatically from Group G. A draw against Bulgaria and a loss against Wales in their last competitive games leave them needing to win their last two matches just to have a chance to finish top of the group.
The squad will no doubt be a little deflated but they played poorly against a Welsh side who were resilient in defence and ruthless going forward. Stan James make the hosts a rather large 4/1 to win the game and rediscover their form.
England, although not prolific, have done enough when required during their campaign. Fabio Capello's side need just one point from this contest to be assured of a top seeding in the draw for next year’s tournament. England are 8/11 favourites for the win, which looks short, with the draw trading at 5/2.
Several players come back into the squad, including Bobby Zamora, Kyle Walker and Danny Welbeck, who have all started well for their respective clubs this season. Welbeck is a great price to replicate his Manchester United form at international level by scoring at 12/5. Zamora, who is in line to start, is priced at 12/5 to score for the Three Lions.
Although England have kept two consecutive clean sheets, they were only against Bulgaria, who didn’t really threaten, and Wales, who were very unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. The backline looks a little vulnerable and with the hosts needing a win they could be severely tested.
Montenegro have scored in each of their last five games and conceded in three of those. It has also been seven games since England failed to find the net in an international fixture. Although the return match was a stalemate this should be a more open game with goals likely. Both teams to score appeals at 11/10.
