Denmark is getting ready for a two week football feast and we've previewed three worthwhile markets to get involved in on the youth tournament.Europe's most talented young players are set to feature in this summer's Uefa Under-21 Championship in Denmark. Established youngsters like Spain's Juan Mata and England's Daniel Sturridge are just a few of the names who will represent their country over the next fortnight.
From a betting perspective youth football tournaments can be a potential tricky route to a goldmine. Holders Germany failed to qualify and there is no place either for other European powerhouses like Italy and Netherlands.
There is value to be found, though, and with the aid of Goal.com's new betting partner Unibet we've selected three markets worth considering.
* Czech Republic to reach final @ 4.25
In qualifying there was nobody to touch the gifted Czechs who won nine and drew the other en route to the finals. Among their victims were reigning under 21 champions Germany and Jakub Dovalil's team also shipped the least number of goals in the qualifying round (4 in 10 games).
The Czechs could score plenty too with seven of their ten games going over 2.5 goals. Drawn in the so called 'group of death' with England and Spain they are a superb 4.50 to top Group B and a worthwhile 7.0 to go all the way. Value is certainly available on the Czechs to reach the final @ 4.25 which given the often unpredictable nature of these tournaments has more merit than the outright price.
* Iceland to win Group A @ 3.75
Iceland's Under 21 side has given the country a boost after the nation's economic and volcano woes in recent years. They scored a mighty 33 goals and were undefeated against Germany whom they smacked 4-1. Only one team could put manners on Iceland and that was the Czechs who beat them 3-1 in qualifying.
Expectations in Iceland are high for their team who are drawn with Denmark, Switzerland and Belarus. Getting the better of Nordic rivals Denmark is within their grasp with Switzerland likely the provide the sternest opposition in Group A.
|Top Goalscorer Odds
|Bojan Krkic (Spain)
Daniel Sturridge (England)
Tomas Pekhart (Czech Republic)
Juan Mata (Spain)
Twelve months on from winning the World Cup with La Furia Roja the Valencia star is eyeing more silverware. Spain are the outright favourites with Unibet and with stars like Mata and Barcelona's Bojan it's perhaps not hard to see why.
Although Mata is 23-years old he is allowed to participate as he met the requirement age at the start of qualifying in 2009. You can make an argument that the more senior Mata will show the youngsters a thing or two and at 12.0 is certainly better value than Bojan (7.0) to win the golden boot.
