Bet of the Day: Six-pointer between Fulham and West Brom offers super value

Lots of betting opportunities available for clash at Craven Cottage
Match Odds: Fulham 2.20, Draw 3.20, West Brom 3.40 (William Hill)

A six-pointer already and we're barely into the new year, but make no mistake about it, Fulham - West Brom game has serious implications for the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Only three points separate the Cottagers from the Midlands outfit and a win is vital for both teams. Mark Hughes has yet to convince Fulham fans he is the right replacement for Roy Hodgson, and spending lots of time discussing his old club Manchester City isn't doing him many favours either.

'Sparky' is 4.50 second favourite behind Hodgson to be given the bullet for the second time in just over a year. One win from 10 games in all competitions tells its own story.

As for his opposite number, Roberto Di Matteo, his job is considered safe, with William Hill pricing the stylish Italian at 51.0 as the next Premier League boss to be sacked. At one point the former Chelsea star was even longer odds than Sir Alex Ferguson to be handed his marching orders!

The Baggies have lost their last four league games but if it wasn't for some shocking refereeing and plain bad luck they would have earned at least a point against Man Utd on New Year's Day. West Brom have been decent on the road this season, earning four points against Arsenal and Manchester United, and they won't be daunted by a trip to Craven Cottage.

A West Brom is superbly priced at 3.40 to happen.

Fulham have won just twice in 10 league games on home soil and are the draw specialists of 2010-11 with 50 per cent of their league games ending all square. You can back another draw at 3.20.

One stat in Fulham's favour is that they have won all four of their Premier League meetings with West Brom. That's priced at 2.20 to occur again this evening.

Considering the desperation of both sides backing both teams to score at 1.95 also looks a runner.

"If West Brom can quell a pretty impotent Fulham side for the full 90 minutes and stop them scoring, there is no reason why they can't either come away with a point (the draw is 3.20) or even win the game to nil (5.0).

"What is massively important for West Brom is to not lose this match. Not only would that send them further down the table and send their rivals home with a confidence boosting three points, it would be the Baggies' fifth straight defeat and they really have to stop the rot as soon as possible.

"On paper, perhaps Fulham do have the better squad but with morale low around Craven Cottage - I really fancy Roberto Di Matteo's men to perform a smash and grab win, 1-0 looks good to me at 9.0."
