Last six clashes on Merseyside have produced 33 goals...
For the second consecutive season Arsenal kick their Premier League campaign off on Merseyside. Repeating last season's 6-1 thumping of Everton looks unlikely but we can expect goals in this opening encounter against the Reds.
After a disastrous season last year the only way Roy Hodgson's side can go is up. At least that's the plan anyway. Hodgson has managed to keep hold of Fernando Torres along with Steven Gerrard and has added Joe Cole and Christian Poulsen to the Anfield ranks.
Torres is unlikely to start as he's nursing a groin strain. He will surely feature at some stage and if he does have a punt on him scoring. A whopping 71.42% of his Premier League goals have come at Anfield. He's bagged two against the Gunners in four appearances and yes they both came on home turf.
* Fernando Torres to score at anytime - 2.20
Arsene Wenger can be confident of leaving Anfield with at least a point. The Londoners boast the better head-to-head record and are unbeaten in five including three consecutive victories.
One man who the Anfield crowd will know all about is Andrey Arshavin who has scored five goals in just two games against Liverpool. Four of those came in an epic 4-4 draw at the tail end of the 2008/09 season. He's a brilliant price to get on the mark at any stage during Sunday's match.
* Andrey Arshavin to score at anytime - 3.40
Long gone are the days of 1-0 to the Arsenal under the pragmatic George Graham. Matches between the Gunners and the Reds tend to produce plenty of goals and you need to go right the way back to 1999 for the last goalless encounter. Rewind one year further for the last 0-0 at Anfield.
Let's take a look at the trends from the last six games in Merseyside between these sides. Five have gone over 2.5 goals...
13/12/2009 - Premier League
Liverpool 1-2 Arsenal
21/04/2009 - Premier League
Liverpool 4-4 Arsenal
08/04/2008 - Champions League

09/01/2007 - Carling Cup
Liverpool 3-6 Arsenal
* Last season 12 of Arsenal's away matches went over 2.5 goals
* Over 2.5 goals - 2.16
Liverpool's new signing has notched up two goals against the Gunners in his Premier League career. He will be keen to make an impression on his maiden league bow in front of the Kop.
* Joe Cole to score at anytime - 4.0

"Although there are no doubts on Arsenal's capacity to score goals, they are defensively vulnerable and are actively in the market for a new goalkeeper. They shipped five goals against Legia Warsaw last week and scored six in reply. I expect Roy Hodgson to astutely target their weaknesses at the back and we all know this fixture traditionally produces goals."
